Monkey Mia / Shark Bay – Holiday Destination

One of the most magical locations along the spectacular Western Australian coastline, Monkey Mia is the dream road trip destination for many.

Nestled upon the shores of the magnificent Shark Bay, and surrounded by the awe inspiring Francois Peron National Park, red cliffs, white beaches and an aquatic marine playground meet at this special point.

Well known for the friendly dolphins that visit the shores of Monkey Mia each day, this tourist oasis caters well for the seasonal traveller.  But there is far, far more to this land of contrasts!

4 wheel drivers delight in the vast expanses of virtually untouched land to explore, challenging tracks, fabulous hidden corners, and some of the most stunning scenery in the world greets those who adventure off the bitumen.

However, we do recommend that great care be taken to ensure that you follow all guidelines when visiting this region.  High clearance four wheel drive, and a sound knowledge of four wheel driving skills is required in some areas.

For those wanting a more serene off-road experience, the Shark Bay World Heritage area has options a-plenty.  Perch your caravan on the edge of Steep Point overlooking the endless horizon.  Settle into a beach side camping area, and sleep listening to the sound of waves washing into shore.

For those wanting a more pastoral experience, moving slightly inland will find you greeted by working stations who open their arms, and camping facilities to travellers.

You will never run out of things to see and do in the Shark Bay / Monkey Mia region.  For more of the amazing opportunities available to you the Shark Bay World Heritage Area page has plenty of information for you.
